Volunteers are the heartbeat of HSCI, helping us run smoothly 365 days a year. You might walk dogs, clean cat rooms, help with laundry, or lend a hand at events — whatever fits your schedule and your strengths.

How volunteers make a difference
Volunteers are vital to keeping the Pet Adoption Center running smoothly 365 days a year. Here are some of the ways you can lend a hand:
- Walking dogs (must be 18 years or older).
- Cleaning cat rooms to ensure a healthy environment for our feline friends.
- Yard maintenance, such as mowing, trimming bushes, and tidying up after the dogs.
- Helping with laundry and dishes to keep our center clean and organized.
- Cleaning windows and office spaces to maintain a welcoming space for adopters.
- Brushing and socializing cats to help them feel loved and ready for adoption.
- Supporting special events, like fundraisers and community outreach programs.

Do You Have Physical Donations?

Foster a pet
Not ready to adopt but still want to help? Fostering gives a dog, cat, or litter of kittens a safe, loving place to grow and heal until they're ready for their forever home. We provide the supplies, support, and vet care — you provide the TLC.
Who needs fosters most:
- Moms with babies
- Bottle-fed kittens
- Older dogs
- Long-term shelter dogs who could use some extra love

Sponsor a pet
Can't adopt right now but still want to make a difference? Sponsoring a pet helps cover their food, care, and housing while they wait for their forever family. Choose your pet, choose your amount, and your name (or a memorial dedication) gets added right to their bio.
Become a business PAWtner
Own a business in Central Illinois? Become an HSCI PAWtner with a donation of $900 or more a year (it can be paid monthly) and get your business in front of thousands of animal lovers across the Bloomington-Normal community.
