Saoirse
We adopted "Jamaica" in August of 2001. Her new name is Saoirse (pronounced Seer-Sha), it is
Gaelic for Freedom.
She was very high energy and liked to hang out in a kiddie pool. When I first brought her
home she had some serious "separation anxiety" issues. She destroyed a couch and a mattress
as well as a number of rolls of paper towels. I say this because we worked through this with
her and she is a very, very intelligent dog.
After a month or two of transition, Saoirse calmed down and became the best pet/companion
anyone could ask for. She is still high energy, but now takes it out on her rope and her
bone. She loves everyone that comes into our house, and if you are willing to play tug of
war with her and her rope, you have a friend for life. She has traveled with me from one
side of the country to the other, and I don't know what I would do without her. She now
spends her days napping in the sun and she still loves the kiddie pool.
She has been just an outstanding dog and we love her very much. Thank you for saving such a
wonderful animal. We are considering adding another dog to our family soon, we will bring
Saoirse with us so you can see her again.
