Adopt-a-thon 2008
This isn't any ordinary Saturday at HSCI. Nationally, adoption at shelters will be promoted the first week of May. Our celebration is on Saturday, May 10, from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, at our Pet Adoption Center. See the Calendar of Events for details.

We are looking for volunteers to help out on Saturday. Here is a listing of activities. If interested and available, email staff@hscipets.org. Let's find our pets great homes!

Bake Sale at Lowe's!
There will be a Bake Sale on Saturday, May 10, at Lowe's from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Have sweets for Mother's Day without being in the kitchen. Stop by for our always popular bake sale. It's also a great opportunity to buy your plants in Lowe's Garden Shop. Spring Raffle tickets will be available at the bake sale until 1:30 pm. See the Calendar of Events for details.

Spring Raffle!
We've brought back our Raffle!  Tickets are only $1 each, and you could win $250!  Proceeds from this raffle will be used to offset spay/neuter expenses. With spring, pet overpopulation is obvious. Spay/neuter has the most impact on improving the welfare of local pets. Sold tickets with payment should be returned Wednesday, May 7 (if mail) or dropped off to the Pet Adoption Center before May 10 at 2:00 pm. See the Calendar of Events for details.

Adoption Fee Changes

After careful consideration, HSCI has found it necessary to change our adoption fees. Prior to the change, our adoption fees had been in place since May 2004. Since that time we have experienced higher costs in just about every area, including medical expenses, utilities, payroll, and more. Our adoption fees have always been lower than our pet care costs. This is an intentional decision as the Board of Directors realize adoption fees need to be reasonable to adopters. The adoption fee change went into effect on March 17, 2008. Visit the Adoption Fee Changes webpage for details.

Could you please help us?

Your membership is vital. It provides for the adoption of over 1,000 animals per year; a spay/neuter program that addresses the very heart of pet overpopulation; an active education program that teaches respect and compassion for all living creatures; and abuse and neglect investigation. HSCI does not receive any government aid and is totally dependent on your contributions. Without that support we cannot survive.
