How Ordering the Plates Help Spay/Neuter Efforts
We encourage all Illinois residents to demonstrate their love for animals by ordering the available
pet-friendly license plate. The plate design will not only draw attention to pets but also will
financially help support spay/neuter programs. Each pet-friendly plate (new order or renewal)
generates $25 to the Spay/Neuter Fund. Only through spay/neuter programs can the pet overpopulation
problem be addressed. A Pet Overpopulation Control Fund Board will make recommendations for awarding
grants to animal organizations for spaying and neutering.
In April 2005, HSCI received a grant of $1,000. For the first-year of grant distribution, qualifying
pet organizations could apply for one of 50 $1,000 grants available. More funds should be available
as this program grows. HSCI, with its long history of spay/neuter programs, hopes to qualify for
larger grants with your help.
