Rescue Run to Jackson, Mississippi - December 29, 2005

HSCI transferred 28 dogs from a shelter in Jackson, Mississippi to alleviate some of the stress on shelters in the South due to Hurricane Katrina.

Rescue Run to Jackson, Mississippi Volunteers make name collars for each dog so we can easily identify our newest residents.

The dogs waited inside their carriers until it was their turn for a bathroom break. Then they were placed in roomy kennels in the Adoption Center. Many of the dogs were very happy to be here. A few were wagging their tails so much they would cause their carrier to rock. A few timid ones were unsure about these strangers and the cold climate greeting them.

Rescue Run to Jackson, Mississippi By transferring these pets to HSCI, they have a chance for a home again. So many residents from the South are attempting to piece their lives back together. They are not able to adopt now yet so many dogs are hoping for a family. A big thank you goes to everyone who helped make the Jackson, Mississippi rescue run possible. The dogs will be forever grateful.
