HSCI has been in contact with Rescue Bank of Chicago and Wings of Rescue.
HSCI, plus a large number of rescues from the Chicago area have offered to take dogs and cats that were in shelters and displaced due to the storm. The Humane Society of the US (HSUS) is now in charge of coordinating the evacuation effort. They want to first relocate the animals closer than Illinois, but have us on the list for down the road. As they said, this effort is a marathon and not a race. They may need our help later so we are to stand by. Here is their website to donate.
Another option of support is the Wings of Rescue. Their Facebook page has a donation link and they could use the money to fuel the planes to fly the animals to their new location.
We will post additional support details as they become available.
Our hearts go out to all the people and pets in crisis at this time.
