Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers)
What is your time limit for an animal?
This is one of the most misunderstood aspects of our organization. We are a humane society.
We are not a pound or animal control and we do not pick up stray animals and hold them for
owners to reclaim. Animal Control facilities often do have time limits because of the number
of stray animals they have to make room for on a daily basis.
Our animals are each treated as individuals and are evaluated for health, temperament, and
adoptability. We try very hard to find suitable homes for all animals who are not seriously
ill or dangerous. At times due to the sheer number of animals relinquished to us, we must
euthanize animals who may have special needs so that we may make room for those that can be
easily adopted. There are always too many animals and not enough homes. That is why we spay
or neuter every animal before it leaves our facility. Sterilization is the only way to make
an impact on the millions of animals euthanized in shelters in the U.S. each year.
