Dog Days of Summer - August 2005
The "Dog Days of Summer" event was a fun time for all, especially the dogs! The event was held at the Fairview Family Aquatic Center. All dogs were invited to come take a dip in one of the area's most popular summer swimming holes. Prior to the "doggie dip", chlorine was removed from the pool to make it more comfortable for the pooch's skin. Because of the lack of chlorine, only dogs were allowed to swim. Money collected from this event was donated to the Humane Society of Central Illinois. This event was sponsored by the Normal Parks and Recreation Department. |

The day was warm and sunny, just right for another Dog Swim!
Over 300 dogs came out to enjoy this favorite event. |
| The cool water was enjoyed by all on this very warm day. |

"Don't worry, it's ok!" |
| I'm so proud, I have my toy, and I am swimming! |
|
|
The zero depth end is very popular but some dogs prefer the deep end for swimming and fetching balls. |
| This dog is not afraid to jump into the deep end...especially for a favorite toy. |

|
This dog is different from most. He uses the ladder! |
| And they are off... |

Some adventurous dogs had to check out the entire area. Randy was in charge of corralling dogs to make sure no one escaped. This one was easily convinced to enjoy the pool. |
