Dog Park Grand Opening - April 2005 The Thank You Bark at the Dog Park was a fun event to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Dog Park at Maxwell Park in Normal, IL.  Many dog lovers were present to show their appreciation to the Town of Normal for creating this new, wonderful dog-friendly facility.

The dogs and their owners showed up early for this fun event.

Everyone waited patiently, and the dogs were well behaved.

The crowd grew bigger...

We estimate at least 150 dogs attended the Thank You Bark. We couldn't get everyone in one picture so we took four of different parts of the crowd.

Gidget had a great time at the dog park. She met lots of new friends and was able to get in quite a bit of exercise too.

City of Normal Mayor Chris Koos, and Pamela Sweetwood of HSCI, cut the ribbon during the Grand Opening ceremony! The ribbon was made out of treats from Dog Lover's Delight!

Now for the real fun!

Here Lori is with Mojo, one of our dogs available for adoption attending the event. Mojo proved to be very popular with other dogs. He and Gidget played in the park for well over an hour. Some dogs were tired out within 20 minutes. That exercise at HSCI apparently pays off!

What does she have that is so interesting?  A ball, of course!

There is plenty of space for dogs to really cut loose!

As proof of how much fun they had, many of the dogs went home quite dirty, covered in mud. This dog, named Jersey I believe, sported a bandana for the occasion. Both the bandana and the dog were needing a bath.

Frisbee anyone?
