Great Harvest Bread Company - Dog Days of Summer!
Throughout July the Great Harvest Bread Company is celebrating the Dog Days of Summer by donating $1 to the Humane Society for every bag of Fabulous Fidoughs Dog Treats they sell! Treat your dog as you help one of our pets. Great Harvest Bread Company is located at 1704 Eastland Drive, Bloomington between Schnucks and Cub Foods. They are open Tuesdays - Saturdays. |

 Make a $10 or more donation on our website and receive a HSCI Discount Card! Cards may be used once a day per location, and cards are good through April 2010. We will mail the card to you. This is a limited time offer through the end of July. Cards are available at the Pet Adoption Center.

| July - Aug. |
 During July and part of August, HSCI is conducting its eighth annual Friends Support Drive. This telephone campaign is being conducted to promote awareness and to generate much needed donations. Our Pet Adoption Center has been in existence for over ten years, yet many in the community do not know about us or confuse us with McLean County Animal Control. And, because we receive no government funding, we must depend on generous donors to continue the important service of protecting and caring for the abused and abandoned animals we receive every day. Our Friends campaign partner is contacting community members who have supported worthy causes in the past. Privacy is important to us, so please rest assured that the names of our current members and supporters have not been shared. If you receive a call and are already a supporter, we thank you! If you can give more, that would be wonderful; if not, we appreciate what you've been able to give. Our campaign partner will arrange to pick-up checks from donors. Checks are made out to HSCI. If you have questions, please contact our office. This program does not ask for credit card information or make their initial contact door-to-door. If either occurs, please file a complaint immediately with the police and HSCI. |

Volunteer Orientation
Wednesday, July 1, from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the Pet Adoption Center for new volunteers. This is your chance to learn about the variety of Volunteer Opportunities available and begin helping HSCI and our pets in a way which fits your interests and schedule. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or accompanied by a parent at training and each and every time for volunteering. Call our office at (309)451-1000 to sign-up to attend this or another session. Seating is limited. This orientation is full! |

Office Closed / No Pet Viewing Hours
The office will be closed and there will be no pet viewing hours on Saturday, July 4, for the holiday. We will reopen on Wednesday, July 8. |

Sugar Creek Arts Festival!
The Sugar Creek Arts Festival in uptown Normal and the ISU Quad will be Saturday July 11, from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and Sunday July 12, from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. This event went so well last year despite the heat. We are making a return appearance thanks to the Alamo II! Our table will be outside the store right at the heart of the event. Stop by for some snacks, to talk, and for a doggy drink! |

Downs Village Market
HSCI will be participating in the Downs Village Market this year in Downs, Illinois. Please stop by on Wednesday, July 15, between 4:00 - 6:00 pm and see some of the items for sale at our table, or for information about HSCI. We will have some baked goods and a nice variety of doggie treats, including brownies and muffins for dogs! We may also have some hand made crafts. |

Annual Membership Meeting
Our Annual Membership Meeting will be Wednesday, July 15, at 7:00 pm, in the Lobby of the Pet Adoption Center. Various committees will provide annual reports, plus we will hold elections for the Board of Directors, and there will be time for questions. Refreshments will be served! |

Culver's Customer Appreciation Day!
Do you like the Turtle Sundaes at Culver's? Be sure to stop by the Culver's location on Hershey Road on Friday, July 24 for Customer Appreciation Day! This year the Turtle Sundaes will cost $1.50, and for every sundae sold, 50¢ will go to HSCI! Bring along several of your friends for Turtle Sundaes! Donation canisters will be located at the registers if you would like to make a donation. |

Busey Bank has again adopted HSCI as one of their charities. On Saturday,
July 25, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Busey Bank will be hosting Cause For Paws
at their East Washington Street location. WBNQ / B104 / WJBC will be providing a live remote an hour
each during the event. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available. A dog wash, $5, will be located
at the side of the building.
Several HSCI pets that are available for adoption will be visiting. Dogs will be outside near the tent, cats and rabbits will be inside. All of Busey's locations participate by collecting supplies and selling pawprints for donations throughout the month of July. To see what items are needed, check out our Wish Lists. National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
Please remember our hard-working staff and volunteers during this designated week, November 1 - 7. Our adoption center would not be possible without the dedication of many. Being a non-profit, our staff is often underpaid and under-appreciated. They have a hard job. Please show your support this week with a note, a token of appreciation, or a donation. Another easy way to support us is by raving about our work and our animals to friends, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else. We need your support. |
